Farmgirl Beauty Secret #52: Johnson & Johnson Head to Toe Baby Wash = Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash.

If you need a great face cleanser that won’t break the bank, look no further than the baby aisle. Years ago, Johnson & Johnson bottled the same, exact ingredients in the famous, dermatologist-recommend Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash as they did in the equally well-known Johnsons Baby Head-to-Toe Baby Wash. The only difference: the price tag.

This discovery caught fire in the “underground” beauty industry and Johnson & Johnson must have caught on because they’ve since changed the formulations. The formula, however, didn’t stray too far from the original; Head-to-Toe Baby Wash remains a great cleanser for all skin types. It removes make-up and impurities as well, if not better, than most cleansers out there, especially if you use it with my cotton ball exfoliating method. It’s great for sensitive skin with its short & sweet ingredient list (my favorite kind of ingredient list). It also doubles as a very gentle yet effective shampoo/body wash while the subtle scent leaves anyone smelling as sweet as a baby.

omg,i have this at home!

I can't believe they did that! That is terrible.

Great article! I never think to get baby products but I know lots of people who use them and nothing else!xx

Brilliant Farmgirl said...

Hi Victoria,

I agree! Companies do that all the time. On the other hand, I have a great time figuring these things out so I don't mind so much :D

your site is awesome! Can you research and find products that are great at diminishing back pimple scars? I only have a few and they left some ugly discoloring even though my back is completely smooth. I use phytomer for face on it it seems to work.. but wonder if there's anything else?

Thank you Tsun Tsai!

For acne scars of any sort, try a stable Vitamin C product and dot it directly on the scar. I will do a future post with more information!

Hey KC,

I'm part of a Taiwanese Am women's group for 2nd gen. Ever want to do a beauty workshop for us? I got ideas. 8) Heck, if you got some dope Taiwanese products, there's this cool soap company, though totally luxury item.

Brilliant Farmgirl said...

Hi Jennifer,

That sounds absolutely tantalizing ;D Give me the place & time, I'll be there! Which Taiwanese brand? I'm interested! well, you know where to find me :)

Thanks for the follow. =]

I'm so glad you posted this, because the cleanser I'm using right now is just too harsh on my skin.

I'm definitely going to try this. =] I can use the money I save to buy more makeup lol.

I love this! Sometimes in the shower I use the kids J&J baby wash on my face because it works on them without a breakout and I like the smell.

I guess I figured if it is gentle enough for a baby's bottom...

So now i am hooked. Love your blog.

Brilliant Farmgirl's Beauty Secrets said...

aww, thanks Mamapants! The smell really is lovely :D

Hi Farmgirl,
My sister-in-law told me about your blog because she knows you! I watched a movie on how companies sell products that are horrible for anyone to use. Ever since then I have been looking for natural products. Your blog has been more than helpful! Thank you for the work that you do in publishing these beauty secrets. Is Johnson's Baby lotion just as good to use? Thank you again for your blog!

Brilliant Farmgirl's Beauty Secrets said...

Hi H!

Thank you so much for letting me know that, it means so much to me to receive feedback :D I personally don't use the J&J Baby lotion. Since I can be very breakout-prone, I tend to use non-scented body moisturizers I wouldn't mind getting on my face as well. Vegetable oils, like olive oil or coconut oil, are great for this purpose. They're wonderful body moisturizers. Apply on damp skin and you'll find that you need very little. I might do a post on this soon (about using oils as opposed to regular moisturizers), so stay tuned!

Hi Farmgirl^^

I was so happy with Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash, and also with Head-to-toe wash(I used it for my body tho), didn't think about them having the same ingredients.

My concern here is:
How well does Head to toe baby wash removes makeup? Should I use other kind of makeup remover then baby wash?

Also, they do have same ingredients, the orders are not the same.
Purpose: Water, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-150 Distearate, Sodium Lauroampho PG-Acetate Phosphate, Fragrance, Quaternium-15, Tetrasodium EDTA

Baby wash : Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, PEG-150 Distearate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sodium Chloride, Polyquaternium-10, Fragrance, Quaternium 15, Citric Acid

So you think there are noticeable change due to orders?
