Farmgirl Beauty Secret #139: Thoroughly hydrate your skin with coconut water.

To make up for my embarrassingly long absence, I'd like to share with you my newest skincare discovery: Coconut water! Whether you drink it or apply it directly on the skin, it provides the best hydration. The result is immediate as it rushes 5 essential electrolytes to your body. Here’s how you can take advantage its benefits during the holidays:

  1. Winter weather leaving your skin dull and parched? Heaters and radiators causing not-so fine lines around your eyes and mouth? Thoroughly soak several cotton pads or a disposable facial mask tablet with coconut water and apply the cotton pads/paper mask to your face. You can leave it on for as long as 30 minutes if you can withstand it! After removal, use the cotton pads/paper mask to gently buff your face and neck in a circular motion. This coconut water mask will leave your skin seriously hydrated, smooth and radiant with every fine line plumped.
  2. Here’s your secret weapon in combating dry skin while flying to your holiday destination: Pack an 11.2 oz container of coconut water and a clean 2oz. spray bottle in your carryon. When you get to the airport, open the coconut water and fill the spray bottle with the coconut water. Drink the remaining coconut water (this’ll help to hydrate you from within without having to chug an excess amount of water before boarding your flight!). Take the 2 oz. coconut water spray as part of your carryon and spritz your skin as often as you like, before or after boarding. The reason why you want to open the coconut water at the airport is because the coconut water (when you buy the right type) doesn’t contain any preservatives so it’s important that you use it up within 24 hours of opening the coconut water container.
  3. Before holiday parties full of eating and drinking, make coconut water your beverage of choice. Making sure your body is well hydrated before you bombard your body with food & booze is going to lessen the damage. If it’s your party, coconut water is great mixed into cocktails as it’s virtually tasteless. Coconut water is also an excellent hangover remedy.

I’ve been drinking and topically applying Coconut water on a daily basis for the last 2 months and I’m very pleased with the results. The positive effect on my skin was so obvious within days of starting the coconut water regimen that I knew I needed access to Coconut water everyday, which is why Boyfriend bought me cases of this stuff. It may seem kind of costly but the improvement on my body and skin is worth it. I’m one of those people who chug water like crazy but never seem to feel hydrated. Since drinking coconut water, I now know how it feels like to be sufficiently hydrated. I drink 1 container every morning on an empty stomach. I also like drinking it after a hard workout. If you’re looking to enhance your skincare regimen with a treatment that hydrates from within, I highly recommend this!

Hi there!

You can find them in most grocery stores but if you're interested in buying a 12-pack, Amazon and Costco stores would be your best bet. For a while, demand was exceeding supply and I often see them out of stock!

Just stumbled upon your awesome blog! And I love coconut water. It is delicious by itself and i've been adding it to smoothies and even iced coffee. Tasty + anti-aging benefits= the perfect drink. Thanks for the great post.

It's fun to have this kind of product in the market than climbing to a coconut tree. Lol

I tried one of these a couple weeks back. They were freebies at the local ski area. They did taste like coconut water. I think they would go great in pina coladas.....

Never thought about it for the skin, perhaps it would work, We use coconut cream in one of our lotions at home. My lady smells wonderful when she does!!

Are you serious? coconut water? interesting. Coincidentally, I found bottled coconut water in my 7-11 today! And I bought it. LOVE the taste of coconut water. But it's kind sticky. So I am not sure what it feels like to apply on the skin! haha. Good one. gonna try.
